Dear Parent/Carer,
Last week was a busy one in school, with Primary pupils going to see the Cinderella pantomime, which was enjoyed by all in attendance. A special mention to Flora and Grace in Primary 6 who were appearing in the Panto and performed brilliantly.
Thanks also to Kathleen Duce and all the charity organisations who contributed to the YPI Charity Fair on Wednesday. Our pupils were very grateful to learn about the work of each charity, and we are certain it will be of benefit to S3 as they prepare their YPI presentations.
The Parent Council meeting on Monday was productive, with the informal measures regarding Road Safety producing effective results last week!
Prelims continue this week - the timetable can be found below.
Le gach deagh dhùrachd,
Andy Murray
Headteacher
Staffing
Mr David Murray will finish at SES on Friday 24th January having taught here since 2006 - he will be greatly missed by pupils and staff, but we wish him all the very best as he takes up his new position at the University of Aberdeen.
We will inform Secondary parents today about the plans developed to cover English this term. We will also update you this week on the plans for covering Mr Murray's post. These updates will come to you via groupcall.
Relationships and Sexual Health Programme - Primary Parents' Consultation
Please note, we will be holding a Primary Parents' consultation on the Lewis & Harris Relationships and Sexual Health Programme - this will take place at 19:00 on Tuesday 4th February. The materials, which have already been consulted upon extensively in Lewis, will be shared this week along with a questionnaire which we would encourage you to return before the meeting as this will help us to decide which areas the discussion should focus on most. We would like to welcome all primary parents to participate in the discussion about this very important part of the curriculum.
Cross Country Race
The final race of the Angus Maciver Lewis and Harris Cross Country Series will take place on Saturday
8th February 2025 at Horgabost Campsite on the Isle of Harris.
This event is combined with the Western Isle Cross Country Championship and as this race is in Harris, it would be fantastic to have a large contingent of local runners taking part.
The event is open to anyone aged 7 upwards. Registration is on the Google form and payment is made via the Google form after submission.
Please find attached the poster, information and link to registration form.

We would highly recommend that pupils attend as many of these study support classes as possible, as it will assist with consolidation of existing course work and lead to improvements in pupils overall academic achievement and progress at school.
As part of the study support programme, we will provide all pupils attending
the after-school sessions with a healthy snack.
Please note that we are not able to arrange transport for pupils returning home. However, if transportation is a barrier to your child attending then please do get in touch with Mr Johnson to discuss this matter further.
